Modern Quilt - how to start?

The pattern begins, "Strip 1 With 1st Color, ch 29" What, pray tell, is the 1st color? The materials list Main Color (MC), Contrast A, Contrast B, Contrast C. Help! Has anyone else crocheted Modern Quilt?

Usually the MC is the 1st color. I can't find this pattern, but check the picture to make sure that looks right.
