Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

I'll start! :hellogoodbye:

I work on the Web Content team here at Bernat and am VERY excited about this project. I live and work in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, so I'll be basing my scarf on this location. I'm going to go back to January's temperatures and start the scarf based on Jan 1, so it can be complete for a full year.

When I'm not knitting scarves based on the temperature, I'm doing quick projects such as accessories, ignoring larger projects such as cardigans, reading, playing video games, and cuddling with my dog and 2 cats.

I grew up in Southern California, so I'm considering making a second scarf based on that location. I can't decide - would it just be too depressing to see how nice the weather is there every day? I'll have to think about it.

Hi. :hellogoodbye: I am a retired teacher with time on my hands. I have been knitting since my teens. For a while, I didn't knit much except a baby blanket or an afghan when the mood was right. This past year, since the KAL afghan, I have been knitting with a renewed interest. This year I decided that I would knit patterns that I have always wanted to do but thought they were too hard. Right now, I am working on a sweater for myself and have yarn for another. I haven't made a sweater for 40 years, so this will be one of those patterns. This is an interesting KAL/CAL. I think I will use my stash yarn. I have a lot from the different projects that I completed last year. When I wear the scarf, it will remind me of what I have accomplished. I live in Enon, Ohio. One thing about the area is that the temperature is unpredictable. This scarf should be colorful.

I'm Amanda and I work with Jen -I'm your friendly neighbourhood Web Designer :hellogoodbye: I also live and work in Toronto, so I'll be using this locations temperature for my scarf! Though I'm not planning on making a scarf - I'll be making a super cozy cowl out of Sheep(ish) by Vickie Howell! I've never knit with Sheep(ish) so I'm excited to give it a try. Just waiting for my yarn to come in and then I'll be catching up on January's temperatures.
Can't wait to get started and see everyone else's projects take shape! :knit:

Hi! I'm going to do this scarf with avg temps for battle creek, MI. I will be using the same 8 colors that you on the blog are using. I have to rearrange my avg temps to get them into 8 different colors, but that won't be hard to do. I have ordered the yarn and i'll be using Bernat Satin Snow for the border color. I will be crocheting this scarf so it will be interesting. I have gotten the average temps listed since Jan 1 so, I'll be ready to go when the yarn gets here. I have a feeling this is going to be a very very long scarf. I'm using weather.com for my averages. That way I don't have to wonder about the high and low for my town.

I'm Vanessa and think this will fit in well with the limited time I have to knit/crochet with all of the school work I have. I live in NC.

I'm Linda and I love this idea! Will be doing my best to keep up throughout the year. I live in Melvin, MI. It's in the "Thumb" of MI, USA (almost straight west of Toronto) I'm using AccuWeather.com to keep up with the temps in my area. I'm going to go back to Jan 1 to start my scarf. I'm thinking of just crocheting 2 rows for each day so it's not so long.

Saturday-Went to Joann's and they don't carry the Bernat Satin in the store closest to me. So I'm using the Super Value yarn instead.

I really like this idea. I am going to start from January 1st and do a full year. I live in Caldwell Idaho, and this year I think will be a good colorful year. We get below 20 during the winter and can get over 100 in the summer. I am excited to see how it turns out.

My name is Julieann (aka, MiniBooger) and I hail from Southern California. I am widowed and mother to 2 neurotic but sweet chihuahuas and 1 crabby cat. I work for a medical device company for which I desperately wish to retire from. Now. No more waiting.

That said, I do believe I will have to join this KAL/CAL. In fact, I may have to do both the knit and crochet versions

I live in San Jacinto, CA - Here are my colors:

I'm not a huge fan of peach, so I'll be factoring this in when I select the final 9 colors. Being the addict that I am, I have a ton of yarn on hand. I'll have to sort through to see what I already have. I'll be ready!

Glad you could join us Mini!
I'm looking forward to retirement too, though I think I might have a couple more decades to wait on that one...
