Welcome and FAQ

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

Where can I find temperatures from the past? Thank you

I googled "daily temperatures for san jose california" and found the san jose weather station. I imagine you may be able to find something similar for your desired city/area.

Hello, I cannot wait to get started on this... I want to go back to the beginning of January so I do not miss a day but I don't know where to go to look up what the temps have been for the past few weeks... where is everyone looking for this info?

Never mind... found it... LoL

I am wondering....is anyone considering making a temperature afghan as opposed to a scarf? I am not much of a scarf wearer. I don't want to get myself in too deep though with immensely long rows though.... :crown:

I am making an afghan. I wanted to use up a lot of stash and I probably wouldn't wear a scarf this long. I'm more of a cowl person anyway. If anyone is interested I could give more details of my plans. I put my initial plans in my introduction in the introduction thread.

I am so looking forward to making this scarf. I love a nice cosy scarf to wear when I go shopping in the winter, I like this knit along as it only takes a few minutes each day and I will have time to knit my other projects.
Must be off to our nearest large town this coming week to choose some yarns.

Check my math. If you do 2 rows a day for a year that's 730 rows +5 border rows each end, 740 rows, then 4 rows of border between each month, 44 rows. That's 784 rows. On the Bernat satin label it suggests a gauge of 24 rows = 4 inches, 6 rows per inch. The scarf would be almost 11 feet long without fringe. Isn't that a little long maybe? :o

A lot seem to worried that the scarf may be much to long, so I think that I will use a size smaller needles and cast on 39 sts instead of 35.
Still waiting to get to town to buy the yarn.
