Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

Bernat has a nice, soft yarn, with lots of color choices, and it's a superfine yarn.

Cool! It's a family project!

Hi everyone!

My name is Barbara, and I'll be using the temperatures for Arlington, Massachusetts, where I live. It's near Boston. We get a very wide range of high temperatures here, from the teens in the winter to 90's in the summer. So I distributed the temperature ranges a little differently than in the example. I also modified the color scheme a bit. Mostly using Bernat Satin, but I'm using the Red Heart Soft for the purple (I prefer bluer purples than the Sultana) and green (a darker shade than the "Foliage").

I had to order the yarns because my local shops didn't have what I needed, so I'll be doing some catch up crocheting for January when they arrive!

Looking forward to seeing all the scarves as we progress through the year!!

Barbara

Hi, my name is Christine from Michigan. I am choosing to do Michigan for my scarf. With her wide range of temperatures, its going to be colorful!!! I wanted to do Ireland so badly, but the temp range was too small i couldnt figure it out, so Michigan it is!!! I am using Vickie Howell Sheep-ish and i have started and am off with a bang. I have 10 colors on my thermometer and i am sure ti use every one!!! Ok, look forward to reading posts and sharing! !! HAPPY KNIT AND CROCHET EVERYONE! !!

Hello!

I'm Dixie and I live in SW MO. I am new to this CA/KA thing - the temp scarf intrigues me. Are there any other knitters/crocheters in the Springfield/Branson area who are participating in this event?

Hi my name is Di
I live in Louisiana and will be making my scarf with the highs of each day in Lafayette, La. I have my yarn and am using Vickie Howell's Sheep(ish). I'm anxious to see how the forum will suggest hiding the ends when you are changing colors. I'm not sure about the seed stitch pattern. Some books say CO even number and I noticed the instructions say CO 35 stitches. Could someone clarify. I don't want to get it wrong. Thanks for your help.

Hi my name is Paula and I am from Australia. I only came across the new CAL today and was excited to see this concept! I am basing my scarf on the temperatures of my home town. I broke our temps down into 5 degree increments and used a warm/cool colour chart to pick my colours. There is ten all up. I ordered my Caron simply soft, wrote down the temps for this month and now I have to sit back and wait for them to arrive. My colours are:
Vanilla for the border
Dk country blue
Berry blue
Lt country blue
Sage
Lemonade
Melon
Persimmon
Strawberry
Raspberry

Hi, everyone!

I enjoyed myself so much doing last year's Mystery CAL that I couldn't help but join in on this one as well!

My name is Dave and I live in Portland, OR, so I will be using the temperature scale for my region. I split the range into 10 sections and assigned those to a muted ROYGBV palate. I've attached a pic of the colors below.

Can't wait to get started!

If you use odd number than you always do k1p1. If you use even number you knit the purl stitches and purl the knit stitches as you see them on each row. HTH and doesn't make it more confusing :hrmm: :idonno: ;)
