What's it like outside?

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

"Pearl for snow and navy for 25 degrees and below." Dour2005.

"Knitted, in her own stitches and her own symbols, it will always be as plain to her as the sun." Charles Dickens in A Tale of Two Cities, referring to Madame DaFarge and her knitting.

Have you ever wondered what Madame DaFarge's knitted project looked like? Perhaps it looked like a temperature scarf.

We got some snow last night, and they're calling for freezing rain today but so far I've only seen slush (the bottom right picture is of the roads, and the sidewalks mostly look like that too!) Hopefully this doesn't freeze!

I... I forgot some people see trees on their commute! Sigh.

Maybe......but you know that knitting has a sinister connotation in this book. :rainy: One of my high school British Lit teachers favorite Dickens novel. It IS pretty good once you get used to all the Dickensian "wordiness!"

Aside from that, I had a good friend in school whose mom was a British War Bride....really funny, sweet lady. She didn't knit, but said that when she was growing up, she used to see women bring their knitting with them to the movies and theaters......they knitted in the dark while watching a play or movie!

And now for the weather.......warm again today, but humid and gloomy and looks like it could rain.

At midnight it's currently in the mid 60's here in NW Arkansas.

2 days ago it was in the mid 30's. Yesterday it reached 72. By Thursday it'll be in the 20's again.

I'm going to have a VERY colorful scarf.

It was gray all day yesterday, and chilly.
Today, our temps will be warmer, so I'm hoping to see a little blue in the skies.

Don't have a picture but In Iowa at the moment it is 52 degrees with thunderstorms - the high for today could be 60. There is a Winter Storm Watch for later today - the lows will be in the 20s. Tomorrow it will be near 0 and a possibility of being in the negatives by Thursday. Makes me wonder if one could do a scarf by hour and not by day to show the range of temperature.
