Stitching Choices for your Temperature Scarf

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

I'm using the seed stitch and it is turning out great! My question is what are you doing to bind off or change the colors? My one side is great, the other is crazy.

I've decided to do a slip stitch that I did for a baby blanket called Mirabeau by Caron. Here is what I have for January so far. I usually just work on it once a week.

I would put it off until "tomorrow," then suddenly realize that I'm a month behind! :o By that time, I wouldn't want to spend the time to catch up on all those rows, changing color every couple of rows.....so I'm afraid this project isn't going to work for me! Our temps here fluctuate about 20-25 degrees between high and low each day. Our low this morning was 38, and the projected high will be 63. Over the next few days the low temps vary between 35-55 and the highs run between 50-76 degrees! It would be pretty colorful, I'll have to admit!

I'm crocheting one row a day and I completed up to 26 days yesterday with 16 color changes. I can understand not wanting to crochet/knit 1-2 rows a day and putting it off, since I'll be doing the same. However, you can try to catch up for the week during the weekends or dedicate a week day night towards crafting and give yourself an hour or so to catch up. I may actually hold off and work on this project every other week. At least I know I can always get the average temps whenever I want from Wunderground. So, with our drastic temp changes (hailing from NWArkansas), let's support each other to complete this project by the end of the year.

That is so pretty!! I love the texture and look of slip stitches - I'll have to look this one up. I'm thinking of using the Diagonal Slip Stich for my shawl.

instead of temp choices I was thinking sky colors. I gathered my blues and grays and multi , looking for rosy color and several whites for clouds ??? This has me thinking. Nice idea. Whenever it is long enough I will quit snd start another. Adding spring greens maybe !!! so and so forth

This would make a great teaching tool, for kids. :geek:

I love this idea! And I think the whole project is a great idea for kids. There are so many possibilities.
