Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

Hi, my name is Angie and I am from Surrey, BC, Canada. I have known how to crochet since I was 7 and learned how to knit basic patterns last summer. I am a fan of arts and crafts of all sorts. I crochet mostly, but have found that knitting is better for some of the really fun yarn. I love when I find out someone I know is pregnant because I get to crochet baby items. For Christmas, I crocheted star ornaments for my friends using their favourite colours, and one friend loves skulls so I made her skulls with Santa hats instead of stars. I am excited to try out this temperature scarf, it sounds like a really interesting project and it will be fun to see what our weather looks like at the end of the year!

Hello! My name is Brenda and I'm from Calgary, Canada! I'm a long time crocheter! I'm excited about the Temperature Scarf! and went out and got my wool tonight. Calgary has such big fluctuations in weather due to our Chinook's my scarf should be fun and interesting! I had to adjust my wool colours, but I think I picked ones that reflect how it looks outside here during the times/temperatures of year here! I think this is a great idea! Happy Cal-Kal-ing everyone!

HI!
I'm Meggin from Pitt Meadows, BC Canada. I've been working on this for a week on and off, and I'm finished all of January (and my in between colour). Can't wait to see how this will turn out!
My colours are as follows. Temperatures in Celsius:
up to -1 violet
0- 4 indigo
5-9 blue
10-14 green
15-19 yellow
20-24 orange
25 + red

We don't have a lot of variation in temperature, and so far all I've used is violet, indigo and blue. I'm using black for my in between months colour.
I've cast on 55 stitches, and am doing the whole thing in seed stitch. I think I may do a fringe at the end from all the colours. Also sort of thinking of adding the year 2013 to the end of the scarf in the edging colour to show the year this is for.

Ooh!
I'm thinking about a gestation baby blanket. It could be the temperatures for the 9 months before a baby is born.......
Hmmmm

Hi, this will be my second knitted project. I thought it would be a good way to work on skills. I will be using the temperatures for Eastern Iowa. So far it has been crazy with temperatures in the 50's and below zero, all in January. I will be using stash yarn and trying to match the colors to the ones posted on the Kal page.

Hey everyone!
I've been so excited about starting this KAL, getting my yarn and colors together for a scarf, reading all of your intros and ideas, then switching to a wrap, then switching back to a scarf, that I forgot to sign in myself. I have also been busy talking my mother into joining me in this KAL/CAL adventure. She will be doing the CAL and has decided to do a small afghan for her first great-granddaughter/my great neice who was born in 2011. Since she did not want to do a extremely long afghan she decided to do just her first six months. her temps will be based on the actual highs in Golden, Co. where my great neice was born. My scarf will be a full year of acutal temps of 2013 here in Kansas. I decided not to do the border but to change stitch patterns with every month. It should be interesting! Happy stitching everyone!

Hello all, Paulette here, aka mushtodo.
This is one project I think the Yukon's weather system would fit in. I'll have to find the colors up here in my stash and from the stores up here to make it. 6 months of winter makes for a lot of needle crafts up here too.
I've been doing any project that fancies my eye for the past 50 years between raising 4 children and married life. Now I am free to do this as much as I'd like to. It pays to save and purchase different yarns at times even if you can't get to a project when you want to. You'll find that as you get older money isn't as much and as you've collected what you have pays off in the long run. Now I get to make everything and use it as income.
I have a great God who's helped me use my brain and provide for me with the wisdom He provides me with daily.
Don't let anyone tell you,"you've got too much stuff and need a garage sale!!" Do that after you get your items made. Sometimes just giving what you make brings joy to your heart just seeing the expressions on their faces.
Bless you all

I am 73 and newly retired as director of training for the commonwealth. Knitting was alwats my stress relief. Now I wish to do some fun and relaxing projects and saw your temperature scarf and thought it a delight. I am glad you can go back to the first and have a full year. I live on a peninsula 12 miles out in the Atlantic Ocean and we have very differant weather then the mainland. The weather is responsible for beautiful sunsets and some very fierce storms. I don't know what I would consider the colour of wind but we have wind off the water most of the time. My scarf would be from here. Thank you for the idea now I'd like the specifs. My name is witch1

Sweet! I can't wait to see your tunisian crochet project! :)

I'm not sure when the tutorial will be done. It's being worked on up in Bernat headquarters. Stay tuned!

You're right! We definitely get some really hot days in the South. I've been here in North Carolina my whole life, and our summers are SCORCHERS! 8-)

Awesome!

That's my favorite part of this project - just a few rows a day. Just right for me. ;)

Congratulations on that baby!

Hi, my name is Amanda and I'm knew to the Bernat forum!

I'm a homeschooling mom to 3 kids (11, 6, and 2) and have been knitting for almost 7 years. I immediately fell in love with the concept of this KAL when Vickie Howell posted it on her FB page - I can't wait to see how it turns out! I'll be using the weather in Israel (Jerusalem, specifically) for my scarf, though I live in the hot, dry wasteland of West Texas.
