Discussion and Photos of our Works in Progress (Jan. & Feb.)

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

I sat down this morning and worked my way through January. I am using Caron Simply Soft for my yarn. I have broken the temps down to 5. Increments. I am only crocheting one row a day for my scarf and am loving the progress. You can see the heat wave we had at the beginning of the month. Here's January completed.

I am now working on February. We are having a cold spell so I have been able to pull out the blue.

Here's what January looked like in Ottawa, ON. We had some crazy temperature swings.

The light blue is Lion Brand Jiffy, the green is Red Heart Super Saver, the gray is Caron Simply Soft. Using extra yarn that I have laying around for this, didn't realize the Jiffy was thicker

Garter stitch, decided to tie off the tails in threes, unsure if I am going to add tassles to the other side as well, I guess it all depends on how much yarn I have left...

OK I am trying to put a picture on and I think this time it will work....First 4 months of 2012 weather, warmer days starting to sneak in. But at estimated 13 feet, I have to decide whether to make one really long one or make 2....

I haven't started my project yet. My husband and I are having too much fun designing it. First he created a program to show me how it might look if I just used the average temp. Then the lows. Then the highs. We mused about one that had the a row of low, a row of average, a row of high.

Now the scarf has morphed into a blanket. This is the current idea. Each day is an individual granny square. Yes, it looks like a calender. For the beginning and end of the month where the month doesn't start on Sunday or end on Saturday the plan is to crochet a square with a symbol ie snowflakes for January. The bottom square is the layout of each individual square. The day's low is 2 rows in the middle, surrounded by 2 rows of the average, and finally 2 rows of the high. The border between each month and on the outside will be a row of black grannies.

I guess I really should stop planning it and get stitching>
