I didn't learn until I went to college as part of my theatre major. And my husband just started last year taking swing dance lessons with me. So, I say never too late! :D

I like this part - It is so fasinating learning about the other people involved in the KAL or CAL.

Do you knit and/or crochet? I do both! So I have decided to try to do both the afghans.

How long have you been knitting and/or crocheting? Mom taught me how to crochet when I was little. I self taught myself to knit in my early twenties. Then rediscovered both crafts in the last 10ish years.

Where are you from? California. But I was raised in Arizona. Moved back to California when I was 21 and I have lived from Oceanside to Eureka. I am now settled in the central part of the state.

What are your favorite things to make? Lately I have made many baby blankets and everyone of them has been a different pattern. Just like cooking - I love to try new things (recipes), and never repeat them.

What other hobbies do you have? Gardening, Cooking, including baking and canning, Beading, Sewing, Reading, Crafting, and Wii (my favorite form of exercise).

I look forward to getting know know other people involved in the 2012 Mystery Afghans.

I wish I could see a photo of that tartan blanket!

I looked around for a pic, but strangely I don't seem to have one!

I'll have to get my dad to take a photo so I can post one. I wanted a picture of it to keep anyway.

Hi all!!

Do you knit and/or crochet?I love to crochet. My great grandmother taught me when I was about 7 or 8. My grandmother and mother also crochet. My mother is an excellent knitter and has tried to teach me, but I just never got the hang of it.
How long have you been knitting and/or crocheting? I hate to say it but I guess I have been crocheting for about 35 years!!! OUCH!
Where are you from? I live in Staten Island NY and have my entire life!
What are your favorite things to make? I love to make afghans, but I like to try new things also. I made a few cowls, crocheted snowflakes and pine cones for the Christmas tree and some amigurumi animals!
What other hobbies do you have? I like to garden, and I am a runner. Of course I run more during the warmer months, not a big fan of running in the cold! lol

Really looking forward to the CAL, never did one before!!

I'll give this a go!

Do you knit and/or crochet?
I do both! I have much more experience with crochet, but lately I've been trying to refine my knitting skills. I love how fast crochet can work up, but some items just look nicer with knit stitching.

How long have you been knitting and/or crocheting?
I first learned to knit 2-color slippers from a very nice lady who lived down the street when I was somewhere around 13 (I'm 33 now, so that was about 20 years ago... holy cow I never thought about that before!). I borrowed a set of needles and made a pair of slippers for my mom but never got into it after that, until I was 23. I started working full-time at Walmart and I loved browsing thru the arts & crafts department during my breaks. I decided I wanted to learn to knit again so I bought a teach-yourself book, a set of needles and a ball of whatever yarn was on sale. I made a scarf (it was ridiculously uneven but I still use it!) and decided I also wanted to learn crochet, so I bought another teach-yourself book and a hook. I practiced with dish cloths and discovered I had more of a knack for the hook than the needles, 70-80% of my projects over the years have been crocheted.
Long story short... I've been a knitter/crocheter for officially 10 years!

Where are you from?
Born and raised in Montreal, Canada.

What are your favorite things to make?
I like making afghans because they make great gifts, but I also like to make baby items. I have a tendency to get bored/distracted if a project takes too long, but baby items work up really fast so I can move on to my next project that much sooner!

What other hobbies do you have?
I love to read and I love doing other crafts... I just really like making things. Whenever my boyfriend and I buy new furniture from Ikea, I'm the one who puts it together!

My name is Mae and I live in beautiful Toronto.

Do you knit and/or crochet? I knit and crochet, my knitting is stronger than my crochet. I learned to crochet when a co-worker taught me 4 or 5 years ago. I am looking forward to the CAL to teach me more crochet stitches.

How long have you been knitting and/or crocheting? I have been knitting for 25 years and crocheting for 4 or 5.

Where are you from? I am from Toronto, where we should have crisp cold snowy days, but it is like Spring today.

What are your favorite things to make? Hats, scarves, scarves, cowls - small projects that finish quickly. I think I am ADKD ( Attention deficit knitting disorder ;) ).

What other hobbies do you have? Cooking, sewing, skiing, snowboarding and general merriment.
