Discussion and Photos of our Works in Progress (Jan. & Feb.)

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

We had some pretty varied temperatures this month, with highs up to 60 F (light green) and down to 11 F (dark, sparkly purple).

Yours looks pretty similar to mine - we must live in similar climates- What are you doing to get that double piping look on the edges? That's lovely!

I have 20 squares per row, and will have 20 rows total. I will have 3 white squares between each month and 1 white square at the beginning and end of the afghan ... 400 squares total. I will decide what kind of boarder to add when this is over - don't know how much tmperature color yarn I'll have left over.

Here is a copy of my layout by date. I wasn't able to upload an exce file, so I scanned it ...hopefully you can read it!

Yours is gorgeous! I love the snowflake look and the colors!

Okay! Feel like I finally got started. I'm making a wrap, and it took a few trys to get the cast on stitch amount correct to the gauge length I want. I'm terrible at getting gauge, and could not match the yarn label AT ALL, and even my swatching failed me for a good final number. :?

Anyhoo, the result is 369 stitches, which is totally a coincidence and which I think is pretty cool since this project represents 365 days. I figure the extra 4 stitches can represent that every 4 years is a leap year. ;)

I'm using the Chevron stitch for itty bitty chevrons (k4,yo,k1,yo,k4,dd). It takes about an hour to knit one day (1 row each high/low temp). :helpme: But seriously, that's okay, it gives me a chance to unwind with 'yarn yoga' during lunch hour. :knit:

Hopefully, at the end of February I'll be caught up and can post a picture, 'til then...

Happy knitting/crocheting everyone! I love all the pictures of the WIPs. :bravo:

I finally got my yarn and got started, but have only done about 10 days so far. I cast on 72 stitches and am knitting in the round. The scarf will be about 8 inches wide. Here are my colors:

First three days of January...stitch used is knotted openwork. Cast on 45 stitches due to using laceweight yarn. Hoping to have more done by tomorrow.

I ripped out and began to re-knit my scarf for the THIRD TIME, today! AH! And I'm using an entirely different stitch pattern, this time. :knit:

Worked more on the scarf today - glad I made the decision to go with the lighter weight yarn - still think the scarf will be pretty long even with that, lol!

The color palette is staying fairly moderate for the month of January - I'm waiting for warmer days where I can break into some of the darker colors, including the Aqua Marine!

First attempt at knitting a lace type stitch, not too bad if I say so myself. The downside of the milk yarn is my boyfriend's parents had cats who wanted to eat the yarn in the worst way. :knit:

The lighting is a bit odd - camera flash kept bleeding out the stitching. Color is a bit lighter than shown.
