Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

I've always wanted to do a KAL and this is the first one i think i'll be able to do! One row/lap per day should be possible! I have 2kids, a husband,a dog and 2 part-time jobs. I often fall asleep knitting, crocheting or quilting in front of the t.v. My scarf will be based on the high temp of indianapolis, IN. Looking fwd to participating!

Hello all......I just found the CAL - was a bit frustrated that I hadn't heard anything, and I fully expected an email from Bernat about it. I stumbled across it today by accident, and it will take me a while to get up to speed....in large part because I already have 2 very large projects started, and have a half dozen others I've promised people....

soon, perhaps.

Full time working mother of two wonderful girls and thought this would be a fun project to add to the rest of my busy life. I have January done and got two days into Feb and haven't had chance to work on it, but that is the way it goes:) Weather reporting for west michigan lakeshore, and I did 13 colors.

Oh no - that does sound frustrating, but we're glad you found us! The primary notice about this event went out in the mid-month Bernat January newsletter. If you're subscribed but not receiving the emails, send me a private message and we'll get your account fixed. :)

Hey all!

I'm Hanneke from the Netherlands. I crochet for a little over a year now, I hardly knit. Simply because I suck at it...
I also have a lot of grey days here, not your holiday weather. Thats why I went with colder and warmer colors:
Dark blue (up to -2,5'C)
Light blue (-2.5 to 2.5'C)
Turqouise (2.5 to 7.5'C)
White (7.5 to 11.5'C)
Beige (11.5 to 15.5'C)
Baby pink (15.5 to 19.5'C)
Fuchsia (19.5 to 23.5'C)
Red (23.5'C and higher)
I choose this color range by the temperatures of Januar this year, and the avarage temperatures of last year.
I will not make a scarve because the yarn I bought wasn't what I thought it would be. It's a thin threat. So instead I will make 4 squares, one for each season. I'll attach those to some boards and hang them on a wall I think :) Like little paintings :)

Good luck all :)

Hi, I started the temperature scarf and just love it! I am using Bernat Silk, but I am using two strands and size 15 needles, because I like to knit with large needles. It's going to be a looooong scarf, so instead of four rows in between each month, I'm only going to knit two rows, to keep the months separate. I live in southern California, where our weather has been a bit bipolar lately, so it was a challenge to determine the temperature range, but I think I finally settled on a good mix. I will post as I go along - only up to January 16th right now - I'm a huge scarf knitter, and now I can knit a huge scarf! Thanks for the great idea! :bravo:

Thank you, Bernat! JazzHooked and I have been emailing back and forth yesterday and today. We have determined that we are fourth cousins. JazzHooked lives on the family farm in Ohio. I'm out in northern California. It turns out there is another of our family in the next county north. :cloud9:
It is wonderful what can happen on the Bernat forums.
Now - back to my afghan. :knit:

Hi, my name is Errin. I am so excited to do this project! I just got my yarn delivered today. I decided to go with the Vicki Howell Sheepish because I love how soft it is along with the natural element of the wool. I live in northern New York State where the temperature changes a lot so I am looking forward to seeing the color variations. :P
I am still trying to decide though if I am going to do the low and the high for both days, I would really like to but worry about length.

Lisamarie M Skelton here. Looking forward to this and trying to get logs together for the weather high and low per day for years in which family members were born to give for xmas gifts. Great idea.
