What type of crochet hooks do you like to use?

How do you hold your hooks?

I like using ergonomic crochet hooks, since I have arthritis. Recently, I've fallen in love with the hooks that light up at the end. Makes it so much easier for me to see the holes where the hook needs to work.

When I was younger, I held my hook with a pencil grip, and twisted my wrist a lot to do my stitches. But, as I've gotten older, my arthritis has kept me from doing it like that. In fact, for the longest time, I thought I would have to give up crochet, because the twisting hurt my wrist so bad! But when I tried an ergonomic hook, and held the hook from the top, my pain went away. :cloud9:

I recently got the Japanese Hamanaka rakuraku hooks. They are amazing :) They have a soft grip and the hook is short so that you can crochet very fast.

You can hold them like pencil or knife (I personally prefer holding them like a knife), but they are not suited for people who have big hands as they are double ended.

Those are AWESOME! I love how they have two different sizes on each hook. And they do look like they would be comfortable for my small hands.

Lucky you! I used to be able to hold my hook that way, and I could just FLY through the stitches!

Now, I have to hold everything gently, and work the stitches slowly and carefully. Otherwise, I end up sore and have trouble playing piano and organ.

They are appropriately called "Crochet Lite" hooks, and are manufactured by Widget Products.

You can order them from the Bernat Shop for $5.99 each.

I just found ONE video on YouTube, which shows the Crochet Lite hooks in action:

If you're like me, you'll love it!
It really helps when I'm trying to see where to do my stitches....especially with dark yarns.
