Introduce Yourself!

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

hey, mini===
where did you get the chart and how'd you post it here in our forum? It's awesome! I am technologically challenged. I would like to make a chart like this for a scarf of a past year. Any pointers? Also, where in SoCal are ya?

It is wonderful what can happen on the Bernat forums.
Now - back to my afghan. :knit:

I'm Mary, and love having a project that involves "thinking," so this was a fun idea. I live in North Central Kansas, so I will have LOTS of colors! I'm knitting a tube scarf because I prefer knitting in-the-round. I'm adding rounds for precipitation, too...blue for rain and white for snow (that's important in Kansas!) Having fun!

Anyone have any suggestions on how best to represent this pattern? :idonno: I don’t think averages would best reflect the weather conditions here. Thanks!

What about crocheting 2 rows for each day...the first row could represent the high, and the second row could represent the low? Have fun!

Hi! I'm Christina from Bergen County, NJ. We're moving back to Australia at the end of the year, so this scarf will be a wonderful way to remember our last year here, along with joining my first KAL.

I purchased 9 colours of Sheep(ish) (first time to use it), expanding my coldest range so I can use more Plumish and contracting the range for Coralish (I appreciate God creating orange in the rainbow, but I am a winter).

I plan to knit a tube scarf (been looking for a pattern with unstructured colouring, so this is perfect!) with 2 rows per day, one for the high and one for the low. I've already snagged images from wunderground.com for Jan and Feb calendars, colour-coding each day in my wonderful new iPad app: Noteworthy (huge fan!). Hopefully, I can make good progress this weekend.

Looking forward to touching yarn with y'all! (Yes, I'm from Texas originally. My husband is my best Aussie souvenir.)

Hi...my name is Diane, and my hubby is Joe. We both are knitters...he has been knitting for just over a year, and I have known how to knit for several years, but preferred crochet until Joe started to knit. We never leave the house without our knitting bags. We are both also learning how to spin our own yarn. We started with spindles, but recently purchased an Ashford Traditional spinning wheel from a lady in town. Joe is doing a great job of spinning. I have only used the wheel once, as I am really into my many knitting projects that I am working on. :hug: Yesterday, my hubby and I purchased yarn at Michaels to start knitting the 2013 Temperature Scarf. We selected the same colors, yet I will be knitting the low temp of the day, and he will knit the high temp of the day. I set up an excel spreadsheet with the temps in Saint Joseph, MO where we live....so that we can start ours with January 1, 2013 instead of February. We are both thru 1/2 of January...and want to be caught up this week. Of course, there are other knitting projects that we are also working on right now. Nice to be part of the group.
