Discussion and Photos of our Works in Progress (Jan. & Feb.)

During our current KAL/CAL, you'll be working on a scarf a little bit every day for the whole year. At the end, look back and see how the weather has changed!

They all look fantastic! I am making mine exactly as the KAL pattern and I am really happy with it. This is January pictured. Our temps are in Celsius here so red is >39 degrees so not too many scorching days! :knit:

I'm in Australia! It's great to see a neighbour! Do you have a photo of yours? :bravo:

Hi Kymann, :hellogoodbye: I will be posting a photo in a couple of days when I finish February.
Nice to know that you live just across the ditch from N.Z I shop a lot at Spotlight an Australian based store and knit a lot of Australian merino wool. :knit:

My progress to Feb 23. Started with Jan 1. I am knitting a week's worth of temperatures at a time. Kniting 2 rows a day just wasnt' enough. I haven't picked up knitting needles for almost 40 years! I have been crocheting all this time but have decided to take up knitting again. I am impressed with my attempt so far and will probably see my abilities better as the year goes on. All the loose ends need to be better managed, I think I am better at it now. This will be perfected by (I hope) the end of the year.

I have been using a yarn needle to hide the ends through previous stitches after I work a few rows. This way I won't have to deal with the hassle of doing it all at once when the scarf is about 7' long.

Oh thank you!. I was wondering how every one was working that. As I'm insane enough to do highs and lows and we have drastic changes in temperature in that time frame, there will be a lot of changes. Average temperature would be better but it isn't accurate enough of what we really deal with.

Here is my scarf with February started. The photo is dark because we have a very wet, dreary start to autumn. As you can see the weather has been fairly consistent.

I did better in January at keeping up with my scarf. I'm a couple weeks behind now! One reason for my delay is my work schedule - teaching piano, directing the music at church, playing piano and organ for church and funerals, and working here on the Bernat website. I've been busy! The other reason is that I have just been wicked sleepy lately. The weird weather is to blame for that. When it's cold or rainy outside, I just want to cuddle up in the covers and wish the world away.
