I think the 11% must be for the three colours all together not each. Otherwise the percentages would add up to 122% instead of 101% (60 + 30 + 11)

CAL
According to the tutorial the MC is 37% A, B and C are 11% and D is 30% which is 100%
According to the purchasing guide MC is 38.4%, A, B, C, D are 15.4 % of the yarn puchased.

KAL
Tutorial
A 27% B, C, D, E 20%
Purchases A 27% B,C,D, 20% E, 13%

Sorry I'm a Math Teacher. I couldn't help myself......

Very excited to be doing this CAL! I did the Bernat Mystery CAL last year and had lots of fun--I'm not a huge fan of joining either- but I love how it turned out!!!

Bonjour,
It's my first time too, but i'm worried about two things; first, I understand english but I speak french, i'm effraid not to understand instructions cause second, i'm not so bad for knitting, but I think crochet are quicker (and I prefer the look of crochet). Did someone speak french will help me to achieve my project???

I have crocheted since I was a young child. I have taken beginning knitting classes several times but when I get home I fumble. I was just about to give up.Then I saw your CAL/KAL..... So, having a tutorial will help and I will be able to refer to it when I am struggling. I can't believe this, but I am going to try the KAL.
Thank you, Debbie

OhioAunt wrote:In the color tutorial it says for the CAL that you will end up with about 60% of the afghan in main color and Contrast D (30% each), and only 11% each in contrast A, B, and C. Is that right? If so then everybody will probably need 800-1000 yards of Contrast D, not just the 400 yards (2 balls) recommended.

I don’t know the ins and outs of that line of thinking, and I am not a mathematician.

But, I’m thinking that the percentages might be better understood when we see the actual blanket completed. By then, all the sections will be knitted, and we will see how the contrasts compare to each other.

We cannot assume that we will be using exactly the same amounts of yarn among those “skeins of 2” yarns. We might only need a little more than 1 skein in one color, and might use all of 2 skeins in another.

Apparently there will be pictures and video tutorials which should help a lot. I speak a bit of french, but not enough to help with this. :( I don’t know any crochet terms in french. I think you’ll do great though! :)

This is my first time doing a CAL and I'm very excited to start! I ordered my yarn yesterday, and can't wait until it arrives! I've always thought CALs looked fun, but have never got around to trying one. I taught myself to crochet about six years ago, and haven't stopped since! It's been non-stop, and I have made just about every type of item possible. I've slowed down in the last few years, as my SO and I joined our families and now have a total of 6 kids, so I'm a lot busier than I used to be! I still crochet as much as possible, though, and love it just as much as ever. :) I'm really excited about the "mystery" of this project, and I'm not sure I can stand waiting until February to start! SO looking forward to this!!!

(This is also my first time ever joining a forum, so I hope I am doing this correctly! I wasn't quite sure how to create a post here!)

Long time crocheter first time with a crochet along... I'm super excited! I've roped in some of my mommy friends from our local online forum and we are planning on meeting in person when the first part is released! Making new friends through Crochet! I love it!

We are having a difficult time finding the yarns locally, I guess there are lots of people in my town doing this as well or just love this yarn. I prefer to buy locally but I guess if they dont get more stock soon I will have to order online. I hear that the shipping prices are quite high ($12.99), does anyone have a free shipping coupon?

I'm a first timer also - couldn't decide between knit and crochet but I'm more skilled at crochet so decided to do the CAL. I won't be in town the day the first clue comes out - yikes !! But that is okay - I'll get on it when I return. I ordered my yarn directly from Bernat (the discount was a great incentive) and I received notice that the yarn has shipped - I'm really looking forward to this !
