I am first time too and it's great to find a group of like-minded people who love to create. My mom shared this site and the mystery club with me last year and suggested I try a round. She already got all her balls of yarn because there was a sale at JoAnn's (lol). Now she's bummed because she has to wait for the Mystery to start. So she ordered even more yarn for a project she spotted on the "FreePatterns" section here. lol I'm thinking: Oh dear, what has she got me into..?

I'm a first timer too and very very excited. The choosing of the yarn has consumed me ever since I got the email. Now I am trying to decide between knitting and crocheting. I think I have made up my mind, and then I change it again. And just when I had picked all the colors for the knit project! I too hate hate hate joining things. Not so much the joining but the ends, oh the ENDS!!! That is always the worst partof any project. I hate weaving in the ends.

But I am still holding off ordering my yarn because I figure if I keep pining and looking at the yarn wistfully online I will have my husband practically begging me to order the yarn. Lol

I know that once I order the yarn there will be days of anticipation for it to arrive, and that glorious day when I can open the box and take every skein out and squeeze it and pet it and rub it against my face. But then what will I do between then and February 15!? Torture!

I keep looking at my yarn in all it's glory just waiting to be used to make something wonderful.
These are my colors, the silk is the main color and the bordeaux will be worked in wherever as I see fit. I am really happy with the colors, they just worked themselves out.

How cool is that?! That will be a wonderful way to keep each other motivated. I bet that some of you will be racing to see who finishes first. ;)

Sounds like you need to make BOTH blankets! There are a few of us who are doing that.

If you're making the crochet blanket, there is a way to make the ends disappear as you work each section. I saw a YouTube video about it once, and it is very smart. No ends to weave in at the end. I'll see if I can find that video, and post it here later.
