NFL Colors

Postby dcmerkle » Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:32 pm

Hello Everyone,
I am a stickler for matching colors to certain projects. I want to crochet a afghan with the Baltimore Ravens in mind. The black, gold and white is no problem, but the purple is the thing that is driving me nuts. Would anyone know what the name of that particular purple is? Would anyone know of a yarn site that would carry it? A few years ago there was a site where a lady had gone and matched all the NFL team colors, but either I didn't save it or the site doesn't exist anymore. Would anyone know the site that I am referring to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would say it's a plum! Mulberry in Bernat Super Value or Plum Mist Heather in Bernat Satin look like possible matches!
Temperature Scarf KAL: Bernat Satin, corrugated ribbing.

The NFL, NBA, NHL, etc have tight reins on their teams colors and logos. The licensing fees must be outrageous because you won't find a yarn company advertising the specific colors for each team or even patterns of the logos. Obviously there are ways around it for the consumer but yarn companies are under the microscope so they have to be careful.

Thanks to both of the responses. I think the Mulberry might be a closer match. I know that there are pattern programs that will map out objects for a pattern, so I guess that I will have to go that route if I want to come up with a decent pattern on the logo.
