Colorama Chain Edge Hood Question

Postby Cathy » Sat Jan 07, 2012 1:47 pm

:helpme: Help! I can't figure out how to do this part: With pair of larger needles, cast on 16 sts. Slip 4 sts from Left Cord to working needle. 20 sts.
Is there a demo video?! Thank you very much for your help.

I will pull up the pattern tomorrow, and see if I can figure out how to help you.

I think I've figured it out.
You start out by making the Left Cord, and leave those stitches live on the double pointed needle.
Then, you get the larger needles, and cast on 16 stitches. Then, you will slip the 4 stitches from the double pointed needle over to the larger needle, purl-wise. (just put the points of the needle together, and slide the stitches over.) Now, you will have 20 stitches on the larger needle, and the left cord will be dangling down at the side edge of your work.

I hope this helps.

When you cast on the 16 stitches on the larger needles----where does the yarn come from? Do you start with a new skein? Because the directions say not to bind off the cord stitches but I don't see how to use the cord yarn to cast on to the other needle. ?

You will need to cut the yarn on the left cord.
Just leave at least 6 inches free, so you can weave in that end later.

Bernat Colorama Chain Edge Hood

Postby alyv » Sun Jan 13, 2013 12:48 pm

HELP! I am wondering if it could be at all possible that there was a correction to this pattern that I missed. I have completed two sets of the pattern but when I look at my work it appears that the purl side is the right side. So the Cable pattern on the edge is inverted if you know what I mean. I keep looking at the instructions and what I have done and it looks like I have done what I was supposed to. Its just that the stocking stitch is going to be in the inside. Sorry if I didn't explain this right. Can you tell me where I am going wrong? Really hate to pull this out but don't want to move further along with it if my fears are confirmed. Thank you.

I have not tried making this myself.

Thank you. I saw that you had indicated that suggestion in another topic afterwards and I did send an email to Bernat Customer Support. They will get back to me in 3 business days. My daughter fell in love with the pattern and I said sure. Then after completing a couple pattern sets I knew I had a problem.
