This will be my first KaL as well. Do we need to sign up to join to participate? :crown:

Welcome! :hellogoodbye:

You do not have to sign up. Just decide if you want to do the KAL or the CAL, then choose your yarn, and follow the clues! When our KAL/CAL is finished, you will have a beautiful blanket to keep forever! :cloud9:

My co-worker and I are doing this project together. She is doing the CAL and I am doing the KAL. It will be interesting to see how the two afghans differ. DHKC

You sound like me, but I am the other way. I did the last CAL on a whim to see if I could adapt. It was so much fun, and I learned so quickly. By having to do multiple squares of each clue I got plenty of practice.

I would, however, suggest that you practice the basic stitches ahead of time. There some great how-to videos on YouTube. Once you know how to knit and purl, the rest is fairly easy to learn. Also, I found that tension can be a problem for me. I really have to loosen it up for crochet. May be a stress thing. :idonno:

Is that in Canada or the United States? I checked our local Michael's and they didn't have any Waverly yarn...I don't always use the yarn specified in the pattern, but decided to do things right for once.

New to KAL

Postby andromeda083 » Mon Jan 16, 2012 11:07 pm

I haven't been knitting very long and this will be my first big project. I'm using all the yarn I've bought over three years, my afghan won't be for display exactly. I'm glad there will be video tutorials, that really helps!! I'm excited and nervous cuz I'll be doing this between breaks at school and during my bus ride to school too! :)

They have this yarn at this price at my Michaels in Kingston (Jan.17.12). Of course, I ordered it on line, being afraid I wouldn't be able to get any, and now find I could have bought it cheaper with no shipping cost right here. Oh well :-)
