Hi Cherie, here is the answer to your question. (Kaleigh posted this in another discussion.)

"There are 15 weeks total, but there are not 15 clues. For instance, there's a catch-up week and some time for joining squares included in those 15."

My yarn has arrived. Time to try a test swatch. The colors are really nice together. We chose really well.

I was going to try to do both the CAL and the KAl but with Tax Season and 2 night school classes I figured that would be nuts! :scared:

So I chose CAL because I am more comfortable (and quicker) crocheting than knitting. I think I will download the clues though and keep them to try when I am not so busy! Oh...and my yarn just arrived today! :cooldude:

This is my first CAL. I hope I can keep up since I will be having surgery about half way through it. I just ordered my yarn so I am ready.

I have a few silly questions though, things I am unclear of and can't seem to find the answers to. The clues? What do you mean by that? Will they lead me to the pattern? And can I print out the pattern when I find it? I'm just a little confused as to how this works.

The clues will be small chunks of the overall pattern. Each clue will cover a certain number of squares. At the end, you will have completed the entire pattern.

During the previous CAL, the clues were released as .pdfs for easy printing or saving to your favorite electronic device such as a laptop, iPad/iPod or other tablet. I personally use my iPad. It is compact, and uses no paper. So, no crumpled or missing pages.

I'm with you, Cal 2012. This is my first "mystery" afghan & I'm really excited! I've just resumed crocheting after retiring (yea!), & I'm enjoying it even more than I did when I was young. This'll be fun!
