MATERIALS
Bernat Camouflage (100 g/3.5 oz) 5 (6-7-7-8) balls
OR
Bernat Camouflage (142 g/5 oz) 4 (5-6-6-6) balls

Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles and size 5 mm (U.S. 8) circular knitting needle 24 ins [60 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge. Length of elastic 1½ ins [4 cm] wide. 4 buttons for pockets. Size 5.5 mm (U.S. I or 9) crochet hook for drawstring.

GAUGE: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS: The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

LEFT LEG
Beg at waist, cast on 87 (93-101-115-127) sts.
Beg with a knit row, work 2 rows in stocking st.

Shape back: Next row: Knit to last 12 (13-14-16-18) sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
Next row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows 5 times more.

Next row: Knit across all sts. Beg with a purl row, cont in stocking st until work at center front (shorter end) measures 7 (7½-7½-8-8) ins [18 (19-19.5-20.5-20.5) cm], ending with a purl row.

Shape crotch: Inc 1 st each end of next and following alt rows twice.
Purl 1 row.

Next row: Cast on 5 (5-5-6-6) sts. Knit to end of row.

Next row: Cast on 3 (3-3-4-4) sts. Purl to end of row. Place a marker at beg of row. 101 (107-115-131-143) sts.

**Cont even until work from marked row measures 3 ins [7.5 cm], ending with a purl row.

Shape inseam: Dec 1 st each end of next and following 10th (8th-8th-6th-6th) rows to 73 (81-87-117-127) sts.

Sizes M, L, XL/2XL and 3XL/4XL only: Dec 1 st each end of next and following (6th-6th-4th-4th) rows to (75-77-79-83) sts.

All sizes: Cont even until work from marked row (measured down center of leg) measures 30½ (31-31½-31½-31½) ins [77.5 (79-80-80-80) cm], ending with a knit row.

Next row: (WS). (Fold line). Knit.
Beg with a knit row, work 8 rows stocking st. Cast off.**

RIGHT LEG
Beg at waist, cast on 87 (93-101-115-127) sts. Knit 1 row.

Shape back: Next row: Purl to last 12 (13-14-16-18) sts. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.
Next row: Knit. Rep last 2 rows 5 times more.
Next row: Purl across all sts.
Beg with a knit row, cont in stocking st until work at center front (shorter end) measures 7 (7½-7½-8-8) ins [18 (19-19-20.5-20.5) cm], ending with a purl row.

POCKETS (make 2)
Cast on 27 sts.
Beg with a knit row, work 7¼ ins [18.5 cm] in stocking st, ending with a purl row. Cast off.

POCKET FLAPS (make 2)
Cast on 27 sts.
1st row: (RS). K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last row for seed st pat until work from beg measures 1½ ins [4 cm], ending with a purl row.

Next row: (Buttonhole row). Pat across 4 sts. yfwd. Sl1. K1. psso. Pat to last 6 sts. K2tog. yfwd. Pat to end of row.
Work 3 more rows in pat. Cast off in pat.

FINISHING: Sew Pockets and Pocket Flaps in position. Sew buttons on Pocket to correspond to buttonholes.
Sew inseams and crotch seams. Fold hem at cuffs to WS along fold line and sew in position.

Waistband: With RS facing and circular needle, beg at center back seam, pick up and knit 80 (87-95-105-117) sts evenly across top of left leg to center front seam and 80 (87-95-105-117) sts evenly across top of right leg to center back seam. 160 (174-190-210-234) sts. Join in rnd, placing a marker on first st.
Knit 5 rnds.
Next rnd: (Eyelet rnd). K76 (83-91-101-113). K2tog. yfwd. K4. yfwd. Sl1. K1. psso. Knit to end of rnd.
Knit 3 rnds.
Next rnd: (Fold line). Purl.
Knit 9 rnds. Cast off loosely.
Fold waistband in half to WS along fold line and sew in position leaving an opening at center back to insert elastic.
Cut elastic to measure comfortably 3 ins [7.5 cm] below waist. Insert through opening and sew ends together securely. Sew opening closed.

Drawstring: With 2 strands of yarn and crochet hook, make a chain 53 (54-56-60-63) ins [135 (137-142-152.5-160) cm] long. Thread drawstring through one eyelet around inside of waistband and out the other eyelet. Adjust length if desired. Knot ends.
