SIZES: 2 (4-6-8-10)
Finished chest: 26 (28-30-32-34) ins [66 (71-76-81.5-86.5) cm].
Length from shoulder: 15½ (16½-17½-18-19) ins [39.5 (42-44.5-46-48.5) cm].
Length of sleeves: 10 (11-12-13½-14½) ins [25.5 (28-30.5-34.5-37) cm].

MATERIALS: Bernat Camouflage (142 g/5 oz) 3 (3-3-4-4) balls

Sizes 4 mm (U.S. 6) and 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. 1 stitch holder. 5 buttons.

GAUGE: 20 sts and 26 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st with larger needles.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).

BACK: With smaller needles, cast on 65 (71-75-81-85) sts. Work 2 ins [5 cm] in (K1. P1) ribbing. Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st for 13 (14-15-15½-16½) ins [33 (35.5-38-39.5-42) cm], ending with a purl row.

SHAPE NECK: Next row: K19 (21-23-25-27). K2tog. Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
**Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 2 rows. 18 (20-22-24-26) sts.
Work 1 row even. Cast off.**
Slip next 23 (25-25-27-27) sts onto a st holder. With RS of work facing, join yarn to rem 21 (23-25-27-29) sts.
Next row: K2tog. Knit to end of row.
Rep from ** to **.

RIGHT FRONT: With smaller needles, cast on 31 (33-35-37-41) sts. Work 2 ins [5 cm] in (K1. P1) ribbing.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st for 11½ (12½-13-13½-14½) ins [29 (32-33-34.5-37) cm], ending with a purl row.

SHAPE NECK: 1st row: Cast off 7 (7-7-7-9) sts. Knit to end of row.
Purl 1 row.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 3 rows, then every following alt row to 18 (20-22-24-26) sts.
Cont even until work measures same length as Back to shoulder, ending with purl row. Cast off.

LEFT FRONT: Work as given for Right Front, reversing all shapings.

SLEEVES: With smaller needles, cast on 35 (37-39-39-41) sts. Work 2½ (-2½-3-3) ins [6.5 (6.5-6.5-7.5-7.5) cm] in (K1. P1) ribbing, inc 7 (7-7-11-11) sts evenly across last row. 42 (44-46-50-52) sts.
Change to larger needles and proceed in stocking st, inc 1 st each end of needle on 3rd then every following 4th row 2 (4-4-4-0) times, then every following 6th row to 60 (66-70-76-80) sts.
Cont even until work from beg measures 10 (11-12-13½-14½) ins [25.5 (28-30.5-34.5-37) cm], ending with purl row. Cast off.

NECKBAND: Sew shoulder seams. With RS of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 23 (25-25-25-26) sts up right front neck edge, 3 sts down right back neck edge. K23 (25-25-27-27) from back st holder. Pick up and knit 3 sts up left back neck edge, 23 (25-25-25-26) sts down left front neck edge. 75 (81-81-83-85) sts.
1st row: P1. *K1. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: K1. *P1. K1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows for 1 inch [2.5 cm], ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off in rib.

BUTTONHOLE BAND: With RS of work facing and smaller needles, pick up and knit 88 (94-98-102-106) sts evenly along Right Front for girls or Left Front for boys.
Work 3 rows in (K1. P1) ribbing.
Next row: (Buttonhole row). Pat 3 (4-4-4-4) sts. Cast off 2 sts. *Pat 18 (19-20-21-22) sts. Cast off 2 sts. Rep from * 3 times more. Pat 3 (4-4-4-4) sts.
Next row: Work in (K1. P1) ribbing, casting on 2 sts over cast off sts.
Work 2 rows in (K1. P1) ribbing. Cast off in pat.

BUTTONBAND: Work as given for buttonhole band, omitting references to buttonholes.

FINISHING: Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew buttons to correspond to buttonholes.
