Softee Chunky - Child's Scarf (crochet)

Lovely woven-look scarf will keep a special little boy or girl warm and smiling. Approx. 8in (20.5 cm) wide x 46-1/2 in (118 cm) long. Shown in Bernat Softee Chunky crochet using size 6 mm (U.S. J or 10) hook.

MEASUREMENTS
Approx 8 ins [20.5 cm] wide x 46½ ins [118 cm] long.

MATERIALS
Bernat Softee Chunky (Solids: 100 g/3.5 oz)
1 ball of each: (39742 Hot Blue) - A, (39416 Hot Pink) - B, and (39628 Hot Orange) - C
or Bernat Softee Chunky (Ombres: 80 g/2.8 oz) Color A, B and C - 1 ball of each.

Size 6 mm (U.S. J or 10) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE: 11 dc and 6 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS
Note: To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw loop of next color through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed in next color.

Stripe Pat
With A, work 2 rows.
With B, work 4 rows.
With A, work 2 rows.
With C, work 4 rows.
These 12 rows form Stripe Pat.

With A, ch 24.
Foundation row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 2 ch. *Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 sc in each of next 3 ch. Rep from * to end of ch. 23 sts. Turn.
1st row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Miss first sc. 1 dc in each of next 2 sc. *1 dc in next ch-1 sp. 1 dc in each of next 3 dc. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 3 dc. Ch 1. Miss next dc. Rep from * to last 3 dc. 1 sc in each of next 2 dc. 1 sc in top of turning ch. Turn.
First 2 rows of Stripe Pat are complete.

Keeping cont of Stripe Pat, rep 1st and 2nd rows until Stripe Pat has been completed 8 times, ending with RS facing for next row.
With A, rep 1st and 2nd rows once more. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Cut 2 strands each of A, B and C, 58 ins [147.5 cm] long. Weave through ch-1 sps along length of Scarf, having 6 ins [15 cm] at each end for fringe. Tie fringe securely.
