Harmony - Blue Ripple Afghan (crochet)

Easy-to-make crochet afghan works up into a lovely ripple pattern. Approx 45 x 59 ins [114.5 x 150 cm] without tassles. Bernat Harmony, size 6 mm (U.S. J or 10) crochet hook.

MEASUREMENT
Approx 45 x 59 ins [114.5 x 150 cm] without tassles.

MATERIALS
Bernat Harmony (100 g/3.5 oz)
Color A (Light) 5 balls
Color B (Med) 4 balls
Color C (Dark) 3 balls

Size 6 mm (U.S. J/10) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE
10 dc and 6 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS
Note: To change colors, always work turning ch in previous row in new color, then proceed.

With C, ch 142 loosely.
Foundation row: (RS). 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook (inc made). 1 sc in each of next 8 ch. Draw up a loop in each of next 3 ch. Yoh and draw through all 4 loops on hook – CL made. 1 sc in each of next 8 ch. *3 sc in next ch. 1 sc in each of next 8 ch. CL. 1 sc in each of next 8 ch. Rep from * to last ch. 2 sc in last ch. Join A. Ch 3. Turn.
1st row: 1 dc in first sc. Ch 1. [Miss next sc. (Yoh and draw up a loop in next st. Yoh and draw through 2 loops) 3 times all in next sc. Yoh and draw through all 4 loops on hook – DCL made. 8th row: 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. CL over next 3 sts. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. *3 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. CL over next 3 sts. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. Rep from * to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Join A. Ch 3. Turn.
Last 8 rows form Ripple Pattern.

Cont in Ripple Pattern until work from beg measures approx 59 ins [150 cm], ending with 4th row. Fasten off.

Make Tassel: Cut a piece of cardboard 4½ ins [11 cm] wide. Wind A around cardboard 25 times. Break yarn leaving a long end and thread end through a needle. Slip needle through all loops and tie tightly. Remove cardboard and wind yarn tightly around loops ¾ ins [2 cm] below fold. Fasten securely. Cut through rem loops and trim ends evenly. Attach one tassel to points at each end as illustrated.
