Size 6 mm (U.S. 10) knitting needles and size 6 mm (U.S. 10) circular knitting needle 16 ins [40 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).
FRONT and BACK (make alike)
With MC, cast on 135 sts.
Proceed in stocking st as follows:
With MC, work 14 (20-26) rows.
With A, work 2 rows.
With MC, work 10 rows.
With A, work 4 rows.
With MC, work 8 rows.
With A, work 6 rows.
With MC, work 8 rows.
With A, work 8 rows.
With MC, work 6 rows.
With A, work 8 rows.
With MC, work 4 rows.
With A, work 10 rows.
With MC, work 2 rows.
With A, work 14 (20-26) rows.
Cast off (RS).

FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements and cover with damp cloth leaving cloth to dry.
Place markers on Front and Back cast off edges 45 sts from side edge.
Sew side seam, matching stripes. Sew cast off edges tog from marker to opposite side edge. Leave this edge open.

Cowl Neck
With RS of work facing, circular needle and A, beg at side seam, pick up and knit 45 sts along cast off edge of Front from side seam to marker and 45 sts along cast off edge of Back from marker to side seam. 90 sts. Do not join rnd. Turn Poncho inside out.
Next row: (RS). Knit. Join in rnd. Knit in rnds until work from picked up row measures 10 ins [25.5 cm].
Next rnd: *K1. P1. Rep from * around.
Next rnd: Knit.
Rep last 2 rnds once more. Cast off in pat.

Fringe
Cut strands of MC 13 ins [33 cm] long. Taking 3 strands tog, knot into fringe along lower and side edges of Poncho. Trim fringe evenly.
