MEASUREMENTS
Afghan: Approx 43.5 x 61 ins [110.5 x 155 cm].
Pillow: Approx 18 ins [45.5 cm] square.

MATERIALS
Bernat® Softee Chunky (100 g / 3.5 oz)
Main Color (MC) (Grey) 8 balls
Contrast A (Blue) 4 balls
Contrast B (White) 2 balls

Sizes 6.5 mm (U.S. K or 10½) and 8 mm (U.S. L or 11) crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge. 18 ins [45.5 cm] square pillow form.

GAUGE
13 sts and 11 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger hook in pat.

INSTRUCTIONS
Note: When changing colors, work to last 2 loops of last st, then draw new color through rem 2 loops and proceed.

AFGHAN
Strip A (make 3)
****With A and larger hook, ch 28.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. 27 sts.
2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. Miss next sc. Rep from * to last 2 sts. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. 1 sc in last sc. Join B. Turn.
3rd row:With B, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in last sc. Turn.
4th row:With B, as 2nd row. Join MC. Turn.
5th row:With MC, as 3rd row.
6th row:With MC, as 2nd row. Join A. Turn.
7th row:With A, as 3rd row.
8th row:With A, as 2nd row.
Rep 3rd to 8th rows for Stripe Pat twice more, joining MC at end of last row.

FINISHING
Sew strips tog in the following sequence:
A, B, A, B, A.
Edging:With larger hook, join A with sl st to top right corner. Ch 1. 3 sc in same sp. Work (ch 1. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp) around, working 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Tassel: (make 4). Cut a piece of cardboard 5 ins [13 cm] wide. Wind A around cardboard 30 times. Break yarn, leaving a long end and thread through a tapestry needle. Slip needle through all loops on the cardboard and tie tightly at one end. Slip off cardboard and wind yarn several times around the loops ¾inch [2 cm] below fold. Draw needle through top and sew tassel in position. Cut through other fold and trim evenly. Sew 1 tassel to each corner of Afghan.

PILLOW
Strip A (make 2)
Work from **** to **** as given for Strip A of Afghan. Do not join A at end of last row. Fasten off.

Strip B (make 2)
Work from ***** to ***** as given for Strip B of Afghan. Do not join MC at end of last row. Fasten off.
Sew 1 each of Strips A and B tog for Front and Back.
Join Front and Back: 1st rnd:With WS of pieces facing each other and smaller hook, join A with sl st in bottom right corner through both thicknesses.
Work sc evenly around to join pieces (working 3 sc at corners) to bottom left corner. Insert pillow form. Complete working sc to end. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Working from left to right instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Tassel:With A, work as for Afghan. Attach to each corner of Pillow.
