MATERIALS
Bernat® Handicrafter Cotton

(50 g/ 1.75 oz)
Main Color (MC) (Beige): 3 balls
Contrast A (Ecru): 5 balls
Contrast B (Purple): 2 balls
Contrast C (Light Purple): 1 ball

Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Small quantity of yellow.

GAUGE
13 sc and 15 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

INSTRUCTIONS
Note
: To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw loop in next color through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed in next color.

Utensil Holder
With A, ch 3. Join with sl st to form a ring.
1st rnd: Ch 1. 8 sc in ring. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. 16 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last 2 sc. 1 sc in each of last 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 32 sc.
5th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. *1 sc in each of next 3 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last 3 sc. 1 sc in each of last 3 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 40 sc.
6th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last sl st. *1 sc in each of next 4 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last 4 sc. 1 sc in each of last 4 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 48 sc.
7th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to back loop of first sc.
8th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in back loop of each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
9th rnd: Ch 1. Working through both loops, 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Rep last rnd twice more.

Next 3 rnds: With A, as 9th rnd.
Next rnd: With B, as 9th rnd.
Next 3 rnds: With MC, as 9th rnd.

Next rnd: With A, working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Join A with sl st to any front loop of 8th rnd.

**With A, ch 38.
Foundation row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * to end of row. Ch 1. Turn. 37 sts.
1st row: 1 sc in first sc. *1 sc in next ch 1 sp. Ch 1. Miss next sc. Rep from * to last 2 sts. 1 sc in next ch 1 sp. 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1. Turn.
2nd row: 1 sc in first sc. *Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next ch 1 sp. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in last sc. Ch 1. Turn.
Rep last 2 rows until work from beg measures 12½ ins [32 cm], ending with RS facing for next row.
Proceed in rnds as follows:
Foundation rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. 1 sc in next st. *Draw up a loop in next 2 sts. Yoh and draw through all 3 loops on hook - Sc2tog made. 1 sc in each of next 2 sts.* Rep from * to * 7 times more.
Sc2tog over next 2 sts. 3 sc in corner st.
Rep from * to * to next corner st along side of base. 3 sc in next corner loop of foundation ch. Rep from * to * 8 times.
Sc2tog over next 2 sts. 1 sc in next st. 3 sc in next corner loop of foundation ch. Rep from * to * to next corner st along side of base. 2 sc in first sc. Join with sl st to first sc.
1st rnd: Working in back loops only, ch 1. 1 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Working in both loops, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join B with sl st to first sc.
3rd rnd: With B, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join MC with sl st in first sc.
4th rnd: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
5th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join B with sl st to first sc.

Next rnd: Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Handles: (make 2). With A, ch 119.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. Turn.
2nd row: With MC, ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
3rd row: With A, as 2nd row.
4th row: With B, working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Fasten off.
Join B with sl st to first loop of foundation ch.
Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 sc in each loop of foundation ch to end of ch. Fasten off.

2nd rnd: Join B with sl st to any ch 2 sp. Ch 2. (2 hdc. Ch 3. 1 sl st in first ch – Picot made. 3 hdc) all in same ch 2 sp. [Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. (3 hdc. Picot. 3 hdc) all in next ch 2 sp] twice. [Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. (1 hdc. 9 dc. 1 hdc) all in next ch 2 sp] twice. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next sc. Join with sl st to top of ch 2. Fasten off.
Pansy II
Work as given for Pansy I substituting B for C and C for B.
