Approx 6½ ins [16.5 cm] wide x 35 ins [89 cm] long.

MATERIALS
Bernat® Alpaca
(100 g/3.5 oz; 110 m/120 yds)
93007 (Natural) 2 balls

Size 6 mm (U.S. 10) knitting needles.
Size 6 mm (U.S. 10) circular knitting needle 24 ins [60 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE: 15 sts and 20 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS
Beg at point, cast on 1 st.
1st row: (RS). (K1. P1. K1) all in st. 3 sts.
2nd and alt rows: Knit.
3rd row: Inc 1 st in first st. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. 5 sts.
5th row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K1.
6th row: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows 9 times more. 25 sts.
Work even in garter st (knit every row) for 10 rows, inc 1 st in center of last row. 26 sts.
**Divide for loop front and back:
Next row: (RS). *K1. yf. Slip next st onto circular needle. yb. Rep from * 12 times more. 13 sts on right-hand needle and 13 sts on circular needle.
Cont on pair of straight needles as follows:
1st row: (WS). *P1. K1. Rep from * to last st. P1.
2nd row: *K1. P1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
Rep last 2 rows 6 times more, then 1st row once. Leave sts on needle. Break yarn.
With WS of Scarf facing, join yarn to sts on circular needle.
Knit 1 row.
1st row: (WS of back loop). *P1. K1. Rep from * to last st. P1.
2nd row: *K1. P1. Rep from * to last st. K1.
Rep last 2 rows 6 times more, then 1st row once.
Join loop front and back: Next row: (RS). *K1 from circular needle. K1 from straight needle. Rep from * 12 times more. 26 sts.**
Place marker at end of last row.
Cont in garter st until work from marker measures 19 ins [48 cm], ending with a WS row.
Work from ** to ** as given above.

Work 10 rows even in garter st.
Shape bottom: 1st row: (RS). K1. K2tog. Knit to last 3 sts. ssk. K1. 2nd row: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows 9 times more. 5 sts.

Next row: K3.
Next row: K3tog. Fasten off.

Flower Applique
With pair of needles, cast on 6 sts.
1st and 2nd rows: Knit.
3rd row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to end of row.
4th row: Knit.
5th and 6th rows: As 3rd and 4th rows. 8 sts.
7th row: ssk. Knit to end of row.
8th row: Knit.
9th and 10th rows: As 7th and 8th rows. 6 sts.
11th row: Cast off 3 sts. Knit to end of row. 3 sts rem.
12th row: Knit.
13th row: Cast on 3 sts. Knit to end of row. 6 sts.
14th row: Knit.
Rep 3rd to 14th rows 3 times more, then rep 3rd to 12th rows once. Cast off rem 3 sts leaving a long end. (5 petals).
Thread end onto tapestry needle and weave through straight (inner) edge of petals. Draw up tightly to form flower.
Sew cast off edge of last petal to side of first petal.
Center: Cast on 3 sts.
1st row: (RS). Inc 1 st in first st. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. 5 sts.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: Inc 1 st in first st. K2. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. 7 sts.
5th row: K1. K2tog. K1. ssk. K1. 5 sts.
7th row: K1. Sl1. K2tog. psso. K1. 3 sts.
8th row: P3tog. Fasten off.
Sew Center to Flower as shown. Sew to Scarf as shown.
