With one ball of yarn you can make 10 each of finger puppets.

Size 3.5 mm (U.S. 4) knitting needles. Set of four size 3.5 mm (U.S. 4) doublepointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Polyester fiberfill, small amounts of black and pink yarn for embroidery.

GAUGE
24 sts and 28 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS
All Versions

BODY
Cast on 20 sts. Divide sts onto 3 needles (6, 6, 8 sts). Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
1st and 2nd rnds: Purl.
Knit even in rnds until work from beg measures approx 2 ins [5 cm].
Next 2 rnds: *K2tog. Rep from * around. 5 sts rem at end of last rnd.
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts. Draw up tightly and fasten securely.

HEAD
With double-pointed needles, cast on 4 sts.
1st rnd: Inc 1 st in each st around. Divide these 8 sts onto 3 needles (2, 2, 4 sts). Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
2nd rnd: *K1. M1. Rep from * around. 16 sts.
3rd rnd: Knit.
4th rnd: *K2. M1. Rep from * around. 24 sts.
Knit 8 rnds even.
Shape nose: Next rnd: *K2. K2tog. Rep from * around. 18 sts rem.
Next rnd: Knit.
Next rnd: *K1. K2tog. Rep from * around. 12 sts rem.
Stuff Head.
Next 2 rnds: *K2tog. Rep from * around.
3 sts at end of last rnd.
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts. Draw up tightly and fasten securely.

Bear Version
EARS (make 2).
With pair of needles, cast on 5 sts.
Work 5 rows stocking st. Cast off.
Fold Ear in half with WS tog. Sew cast on and cast off edges tog, pulling tightly to gather Ear slightly. Sew Ears to Head.

FINISHING
Sew Head to Body. With black yarn, embroider Nose, Mouth and Eyes.

MOUSE VERSION
EARS (make 2).
With double-pointed needles, cast on 12 sts.
Divide these 12 sts evenly onto 3 needles.
Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
Knit 2 rnds.
3rd rnd: *K2tog. Rep from * around. 6 sts.
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts and pull tightly.
Fasten securely.
Sew Ears to Head.

FINISHING
Sew Head to Body. With pink yarn, embroider Nose. With black yarn, embroider Eyes. Cut 2 strands of black yarn 2 ins [5 cm] long. Knot into fringe at each end of Nose for Whiskers.

BUNNY VERSION
EARS (make 2).
With double-pointed needles, cast on 8 sts.
1st rnd: Inc 1 st into each st around. Divide these 16 sts onto 3 needles. Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
Knit 12 rnds.
Next 2 rnds: *K2tog. Rep from * around. 4 sts rem at end of last rnd.
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts and draw up tightly.
Fold flat and sew cast on edge to Head.

FINISHING
Sew Head to Body. With pink yarn, embroider Nose, Mouth and Eyes.

KITTY VERSION
EARS (make 2).
With pair of needles, cast on 7 sts.
1st row: K1. ssk. K1. K2tog. K1.
2nd row: Purl.
3rd row: ssk. K1. K2tog.
4th row: Purl.
5th row: Sl1. K2tog. psso. Fasten off.
Sew Ears to Head.

FINISHING
Sew Head to Body. With pink yarn, embroider Nose and Mouth. With black yarn, embroider Eyes.
Cut 2 strands of black yarn 2 ins [5 cm] long. Knot into fringe at each end of Nose for Whiskers.
