MEASUREMENT
Approx 9½ ins [24 cm] wide.
MATERIALS
Bernat® Handicrafter Cotton Denim (50 g/1.75 oz)
Master Colour (MC): 13116 (Blue Jeans) 1 ball
Contrast A: 13628 (Hot Orange) 1 ball
Size 5 mm (U.S. H/8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. Marking pencil or tailor’s chalk.
GAUGE: 13 sc and 14 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
INSTRUCTIONS
With MC, ch 31.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to
end of ch. 30 sc. Turn.
2nd to 7th rows: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
8th row (dec row): Ch 1. Draw up a loop in each of next
2 sts. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – sc2tog
made. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog. Turn.
Rep 2nd to 8th rows twice more. 24 sts.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog.
Turn.
Rep last row until 4 sts rem.
Next row: Ch 1. (Sc2tog) twice. Turn.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog. Turn. Do not break MC.
Edging: 1st rnd: Ch 1. 3 sc in last st. Work 1 rnd of sc evenly
around, working 3 sc in each corner. Join A with sl st to first ch.
2nd rnd: With A, ch 1. Working from left to right instead of
right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join
with sl st to first sc. Ch 10 for hanging loop. Join with sl st to
first ch. Fasten off.
FINISHING: With marking pencil, transfer loop design shown
in diagram onto ‘Pocket’. With A, embroider using chain st.
