Main Color (MC) (00451 Baby Blue) 6 balls
Contrast A (21185 Soft Lilac) 1 ball
Contrast B (00444 Baby Green) 1 ball
Sizes 3.5 mm (U.S. E or 4) and 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hooks or size needed to obtain gauge.

INSTRUCTIONS

With smaller hook and MC, ch 166.
Foundation row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. 165 sc. Turn.
2nd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 trbp in next sc. *1 trfp in each of next 5 sc. 1 trbp in next st. Rep from * to last sc. 1 dc in last sc. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 trfp in next st. *1 dcin each of next 5 dc. 1 trfp in next st. Rep from * to last st. 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
4th row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 trbp in next st. *1 dcin each of next 5 dc. 1 trbp in next st. Rep from * to last st. 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
5th row: As 3rd row.
6th row: Ch 3 (counts as dc).1 trbp in next st. *1 trfp in each of next 5 dc. 1 trbp in next st. Rep from * to last st. 1 dc in top of turning ch. Turn.
Rep 3rd to 6th rows for Waffle Pat until work from beg measures 29½ ins [75 cm], ending with RS facing for next row.

Pin Hood to upper left corner of Blanket.

FINISHING
Edging: 1st rnd: With RS of work facing up and smaller hook, join MC with sl st to upper right corner of Blanket. Ch 1. (3 sc in corner. Work
109 sc across side of Blanket) 4 times, working through both thicknesses of Blanket and Hood where they meet.
Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Fasten off.

Hood Appliqué
Shell: (Note: Shell is worked in spiral. Move marker to first st of each rnd.)
With larger hook and 2 strands of B and 1 strand of A tog, ch 2.
1st rnd: 8 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Place marker on first st of rnd.
2nd rnd: Working in back loop only, (1 hdc. 1 dc) in first sc. 2 dc in each sc around. 16 sts.
3rd rnd: Working in back loop only, 2 dc in each st around. 32 dc.
4th rnd: Working in back loop only, 2 dc in each of next 2 dc. 2 tr in next dc. Leave rem sts unworked. Fasten off.

Snail: With larger hook and 3 strands of A tog, ch 20.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to last ch. 4 hdc in last ch (head). Fasten off.

Eye stalks: **With smaller hook, join 1 strand of A with sl st to 2nd sc of Snail's head. Ch 5.
1st row: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook. Sl st in each ch to end of ch. Fasten off.**
Rep from ** to ** for second eye stalk, joining A to 3rd sc of Snail's head.

FINISHING
Sew Snail and Shell to Hood, as shown in picture, leaving eye stalks free.
