MATERIALS
Bernat® Denimstyle™ (100 g/3.5 oz; 179 m/196 yds)
Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) circular knitting needle 29" [73.5 cm] long. Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. 3 buttons. 2 stitch markers.

GAUGE
18 sts and 24 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stocking st.
17 sts and 32 rows = 4" [10 cm] in garter st.

Beg = Beginning.
Center Dec = Slip next 2 stitches as if to K2tog. Knit next stitch, then slip first sts over knit stitch. 1 stitch is centered over decrease. 2 stitches have been decreased.
Cont = Continue(ity).
Inc = Increase 1 stitch into next stitch by knitting into front and back of next stitch.
K = Knit.
K2tog = Knit next 2 stitches together.
M1 = Make 1 stitch by picking up horizontal loop lying before next stitch and knitting into back of loop.
P = Purl.
Rem = Remaining.
Rep = Repeat.
RS = Right side.
Sl1P = Slip next stitch purlwise.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ). Numbers for each size are shown in the same color throughout the pattern. When only one number is given in black, it applies to all sizes.
Note: Body is worked in one piece to armholes. Sleeves are worked separately, then joined to Body sts for Yoke.

BODY
With circular needle, cast on 95 (103-111-123-133) sts.
Do not join. Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:
1st row: (WS). Sl1P. Knit.
2nd row: Sl1P. Knit to end of row. Rep last row 7 times more.
Next row: (RS). Sl1P. K5. *M1. K8 (9-10-9-10). Rep from * 9 (9-9-11-11) times. Knit to end of row. 105 (113-121-135-145) sts.
Next row: Sl1P. K5. Purl to last 6 sts. K6.
Next row: Sl1P. Knit to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows until work from beg measures 8½ (-10½-11-12)" [21.5 (24-26.5-28-30.5) cm], ending with a WS row.
Next row: (RS). Sl1P. K20 (20-24-14-16). [K2tog. K19 (21-22-13-14)] 4 (4-4-8-8) times. 101 (109-117-127-137) sts.
Divide for Yoke: Next row: (WS). Sl1P. P23 (25-27-29-32) (Left Front). Cast off 4 sts. P45 (49-53-59-63) (Back) (including st on needle after cast-off). Cast off 4 sts. Purl to end of row. (Right Front). Leave sts on a spare needle.

SLEEVES
With pair of needles cast on 31 (31-33-37-39) sts. Knit 9 rows (garter st) noting first row is WS.
Next row: (RS). *K11 (11-13-14). M1. Rep from * once more. Knit to end of row. 33 (33-35-39-41) sts. Beg with a purl row, work 5 rows in stocking st. Inc 1 st each end of next row and following 4th (4th-4th-6th-6th) rows until there are 41 (43-47-53-55) sts.
Cont even until work from beg measures 6 (7-8-10-12½)" [15 (18-20.5-25.5-32) cm], ending with a WS row.
Next row: Cast off 2 sts. K37 (39-43-49-51) (including st on needle after cast off). Cast off rem 2 sts. Break yarn. Leave sts on a spare needle.

YOKE
1st row: With RS facing and circular needle, Sl1P. K23 (25-27-29-32) from Right Front. K37 (39-43-49-51) from Right Sleeve, placing a marker on first and last sts. K45 (49-53-59-63) from Back. K37 (39-43-49-51) from Left Sleeve, placing a marker on first and last sts. K24 (26-28-30-33) from Left Front. 167 (179-195-217-231) sts.
2nd row: Sl1P. (Knit to next marked st. Purl marked st) 4 times. Knit to end of row.
3rd row: Sl1P. (Knit to 1 st before marked st. Center dec, placing marker on rem st) 4 times. Knit to end of row.
4th row: As 2nd row.
5th row: (1st Buttonhole row). Sl1P. K2. Cast off 2 sts. Knit to end of row (keeping markers in position).
6th row: (2nd Buttonhole row). As 2nd row, casting on 2 sts over cast off sts.

Proceed as follows for neckband: 1st row: (RS). Sl1P. Knit to end of row.

Cast off knitwise (WS).

FINISHING
Pin garment to measurements. Cover with a damp cloth, leaving cloth to dry.
Sew sleeve seams. Sew cast off sts at underarms. Sew buttons in position to correspond to buttonholes.
