Next row: (RS). Knit.
Next row: Purl.
Next row: *K2tog. (yfwd) twice. Sl1. K1. psso. Rep from * to end of row.
Next row: *P1. (P1. K1) into double yfwd. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows until Hat measures 6 ins [15 cm] from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape top: Next row: *K2tog. yfwd. Sl1. K1. psso. Rep from * to end of row. 42 sts.
Next and alt rows: Purl.
Next row: *K2tog. K2. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2tog. 31 sts.
Next row: *K2tog. K1. Rep from * to last st. K1. 21 sts.
Next row: (K2tog) 10 times. K1. 11 sts.
Break yarn leaving a long end. Draw end through rem sts tightly and fasten securely. Sew center back seam.

Scarf
Cast on 20 sts.
1st row: (RS). *K2tog. (yfwd) twice. Sl1. K1. psso. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: *P1. (P1. K1) into double yfwd. P1. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep last 2 rows until work from beg measures 70 ins [178 cm], ending with a 2nd row. Cast off knitwise.

Fringe: Cut 12 inch [30.5 cm] lengths of yarn. Taking 3 strands tog, knot into 6 fringes at each end of Scarf.
Trim fringe evenly.
