MATERIALS
Bernat® Roving
(100 g / 3.5 oz)

Scarf: 2 balls of #00098 (Low Tide)
Hat: 1 ball of #00098 (Low Tide)

Scarf: Size 6.5 mm (U.S. 10½) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
Hat: Set of four 5 mm (U.S. 8) and 6.5 mm (U.S. 10½) double-pointed knitting needles. Size 6.5 mm (U.S. 10½) circular knitting needle 16 ins [40.5 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE
12 sts and 16 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with larger needles in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS
SCARF
Cast on 26 sts.
1st row: (RS). *K2. P2. Rep from * to last 2 sts. K2.
2nd row: *P2. K2. Rep from * to last 2 sts. P2.
3rd row: Knit.
4th row: Purl.
These 4 rows form pat.
Cont in pat until Scarf measures 60 ins [152.5 cm], ending with a 2nd row. Cast off knitwise.

HAT
With smaller double- pointed knitting needles, cast on 56 sts. Divide sts evenly on 3 needles. Place marker to indicate beg of rnd.
1st rnd: *K1tbl. P1. Rep from * to end of rnd.
Rep last rnd 4 times more.
Change to circular needle.
1st rnd: *K1. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * to end of rnd. 84 sts.
2nd rnd: *yo. K2tog. Rep from * to end of rnd.
3rd rnd: Knit.
Rep 2nd and 3rd rnds until hat from cast on edge measures 5½ ins [14 cm], ending on a 2nd rnd.
Shape top: 1st rnd: *Sl1. K2tog. psso. K9. Rep from * to end of rnd. 70 sts rem.
2nd and following alt rnds: *yo. K2tog. Rep from * to end of rnd.
3rd rnd: *Sl1. K2tog. psso. K7. Rep from * to end of rnd. 56 sts rem.
Change to larger double-pointed needles:
5th rnd: *Sl1. K2tog. psso. K5. Rep from * to end of rnd. 42 sts rem.
7th rnd: *Sl1. K2tog. psso. K3. Rep from * to end of rnd. 28 sts rem.
9th rnd: *Sl1. K2tog. psso. K1. Rep from * to end of rnd. 14 sts rem.
11th rnd: *K2tog. Rep from * to end of rnd. 7 sts rem.
