Beret and Scarf: 26521 (Fall Shades) 1 ball

Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE
15 sts and 22 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS
BERET
Cast on 73 sts.
Knit 7 rows, noting 1st row is WS.
Proceed as follows:
1st row: (RS). K1. *Inc 1 st in next st. K5. Rep from * to end of row. 85 sts.
Beg with a purl row, work 3 rows in stocking st.
Next row: K1. *Inc 1 st in next st. K6. Rep from * to end of row. 97 sts.
Beg with a purl row, cont in stocking st until work from beg measures 6 ins [15 cm], ending with a purl row.
Shape top: 1st row: K1. *K2tog. K6. Rep from * to end of row. 85 sts rem.
2nd and alt rows: Purl.
3rd row: K1. *K2tog. K5. Rep from * to end of row. 73 sts rem.
5th row: K1. *K2tog. K4. Rep from * to end of row. 61 sts rem.
7th row: K1. *K2tog. K3. Rep from * to end of row. 49 sts rem.
9th row: K1. *K2tog. K2. Rep from * to end of row. 37 sts rem.
11th row: K1. *K2tog. K1. Rep from * to end of row. 25 sts rem.
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts and tighten. Fasten securely. Sew back seam.

SCARF
Cast on 30 sts.
1st row: (WS). Knit.
2nd row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. K2tog.
Rep last 2 rows until work along side measures 37 ins [94 cm], ending with a RS row. Cast off.
